What is Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School?
At Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School guests enjoy an exceptional dining experience. We feature a different menu each night. The classes are demonstration dinners and a show combined into one event.
Guests enjoy eating delicious foods plus they go home with the chef’s recipes. It’s like being a part of Food TV, but better! At Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School, you actually eat the meal prepared by Chef Joe and your seated just a few feet away from where the chef is cooking your meal. The chef explains how he is preparing your food and you have the opportunity to ask questions.
We offer both hands-on and demonstration dining events. During a “hands-on” dinner, our guests cook their meal under the supervision of the chef. At our “demonstration” dinners, diners sit back, watch the show and enjoy a great meal. Some evenings are a combination of demonstration and hands-on. In either event, guests eat a full meal!
Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School is a great place to bring your friends for a day or an evening out. Groups and private parties are also welcome.
Why did you decide to open Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School?
The unique “Demonstration Kitchen” concept is the brainchild of Chef Joseph G. Randall. “The Man Behind the Kitchen Door”
Chef Joe Randall created Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School in September 10, 2000 as a facility where he could use the food of the South, the Low Country, and the Atlantic Georgia Coast as a vehicle to dispel the myths and misconceptions many visitors and locals alike held about Savannah. In short, he wanted to be able to bring the great treasures of this coastal region as close to peoples’ homes as their own kitchens, and with a style all his own. Chef Joe preaches the gospel of authentic Southern cuisine to all comers. The success of the school is a credit to his great love of southern cuisine and the city of Savannah. Chef Randall shares his heritage and southern culture with visitors from all over the world.
It is his undying devotion to his heritage and the cuisine of the south, and his love of sharing it with others, that has made Chef Joe Randall so successful and truly joyful. After forty five years, he is still cooking and eating traditional and contemporary Southern food, and sharing it with whomever will stop long enough to listen and taste.
He has always liked to entertain. When he invited friends to his home, they always ended up in the kitchen. The kitchen has been such a wonderful place for gathering, sharing and creating food memories. From there the concept of Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School was born and he is the proud owner of Chef Joe Randall’s recreational cooking school.
What do you offer?

In addition, we offer nightly dinner programs which are open to the public although advanced registration is required. We also offer, kids summer cooking camp programs, parent/child joint cooking classes, and corporate bonding retreats. We invite all to let us know if there are other cooking interests, and we will be pleased to add them to our course selections.
What is The Dinner Format?
Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School is like coming to dinner at “The Randall House”… arguably one of the best and most unique dining experiences in Savannah. We cook, wait on you and do the clean-up!
Chef/Owner, Joe Randall, prepares and performs a 4-5 course “culinary event”(depending on the menu) that are held 4 times per week. There is only one seating per night with a maximum of 20 guests. Because of the limited number of seats available, it is not always possible to fill registrations for everyone, but we will try our best to accommodate your needs.
How are the classes structured?
Generally, each class is an individual class and not part of a continuing course. Occasionally, we offer a series such as the Basic Cooking I and II programs that are scheduled on Tuesday evenings for (6 weeks).
Classes are small giving our guests the opportunity to better interact with the chef. The hands-on dinners are limited to approximately a dozen guests. The demonstration dinners are limited to 20. Classes are typically 3 hours long.
Are you licensed to sell wine?
Yes, we are licensed to sell wine by the glass or bottle. Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School offers a complete wine list. If you choose to bring your own wine, there will be a corkage fee of $20.00 for the first 750ml bottle; $20.00 for the second and $40.00 for each additional 750ml bottle. Chef Joe will be happy to offer wine-pairing suggestions for each course.
What days are programs scheduled?
We are open for Demonstration dinners on Wednesday through Saturday. Advanced registration is required. Generally, our dinner programs start promptly at 6:30 p.m. Doors open 15 minutes prior to the scheduled event. On Sundays, we periodically run a Low Country brunch program and during the summer, we offer children’s cooking camps. Again, advance registration is required.
Do you get a sample of food prepared by Chef Joe or eat a full meal?
Unlike a lot of cooking programs where you only get a taste, at Chef Joe Randall’s Cooking School you will eat a full meal and learn great cooking tips.
The calendar provides detailed information about the dinner programs, including the menu, the start time for the program, the cost, and whether the dinner is hands-on (where everyone assists the chef in cooking their meal) or demonstration (where everyone sits back and watches the chef prepare their dinner).
If you have any difficulty printing our calendar, we will be glad to fax or mail it to you.
