“The Zen Master of Gumbo Practices in Savannah”
I cannot imagine a better dinner than the gumbo served to us on a chilly December evening by Chef Joe Randall in his white frame cottage. While the chef prepared the gumbo, we 'students ' learned about file' versus okra gumbo and how to make a roux (although perhaps not how to spell it).
“Highlight of Our Girl’s Trip!!!”
My mom and I fully enjoyed this unique and delicious evening courtesy of Chef Joe Randall and his wife Barbara!! We were visiting Savannah on a girl's trip, and both agreed that our night at Chef Joe Randall's was the highlight! From the minute we walked in the door you could sense the Southern hospitality that Chef Joe and his wife exude. They were both so friendly and made us feel right at home. Our dining experience was so entertaining, and Chef Joe did a wonderful job explaining each step as he was cooking. I can't say enough about the quality and quantity of the food he prepared. Each dish was absolutely delicious and he provided large portions for all of us!! It was also fun to chat with the other guests in attendance (so nice meeting you newlyweds!) as we ate our way through the evening. My mom and I would highly recommend Chef Joe Randall's to everyone visiting Savannah, and hope to come back sometime soon!!!
“The Best Meal I Have Ever Eaten”
Wow, to have a chef explain how & why, while he is making Your dinner. Awesome.
Would highly recommend & bring your friends. They sell bottles of wine (good choices).
Make sure you buy one of his cookbooks. Would fly back to Savannah for a dinner by Chef Joe anytime.

“A Must Do In Savannah!”
What a fabulous evening! Not only is the food to die for, but you have an amazing chef for 3 full hours to answer all your cooking questions. Top that off with his gracious and lovely wife, Barbara, pouring wine and acting as his right hand- just an incredible experience. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who likes good food, cooking and visiting. If we are lucky enough to return to Savannah, we will absolutely attend Chef Joe's again.
We just came back from Dinner at Chef Randall's and all I can say is WOW. It was even better than I could have imagined. Chef R. and his wife Ms. Barbara are so kind, so personable, so hospitable. The food ( a four course low country dinner) was EXCELLENT! The service was even better. It was great to learn from and just chat with the Randall’s as well as the other guests, a sweet mother/daughter pair from Seattle. My husband and will be back and we will be bringing family and friends. God Bless you Chef Joe and Ms. Barbara!
“Excellent food and customer service”
The food was wonderful, Chef Joe is talented and hilarious, and beautiful Barbara was gracious and charming. Chef Joe was accommodating of food allergies in the group. He was unaware of the allergies prior to the class and he made quick changes in the moment to make sure all attendees were fed well. He also provides you with recipes. I highly recommend this fun and delicious taste of the South for all who travel to Savannah.

“What an experience!”
The name "Chef Joe Randall's Cooking School" is a misnomer. It should be "Chef Joe Randall's Church of Cooking." What a glorious celebration of life, wonderful cooking, and wine. Without any doubt, the highlight of our visit to Savannah.

“Best Date Night Ever!”
I reserved the "Couples Night" cooking class solely based on reviews. This was a fantastic surprise gift. Chef Randall and his wife, Ms. Barbara are wonderfully entertaining and enthusiastic about making your experience one you will not soon forget! The setting was intimate with a great view of the chef's preparations. The food was absolutely delicious and more than we could ever eat! This was the most fun I have had in a long time. We will definitely be back! If you are visiting Savannah, be sure to book this culinary experience! You will love it!
“Exceeding any expectations we ever had!”
We had the best time ever. You never know when you sign up for something like this, but Oh my gosh, Chef Joe Randall and his wife, Barbara, are so gracious, and made us feel completely welcome. We came away full, and with so many tips and recipes. Can't wait to try them.
We are planning on returning again next year!
“Classic Savannah Experience”
We took a handful of clients and staff members to experience Chef Joe's cooking class. An evening out turned into enjoying great Southern cooking, learning a bit of how to do it, lots of laughs with our colleagues and building on our relationship with Chef Joe, his lovely wife Barbara and their able assistant, Maggie. (Oh yeah, there was some "adult grape juice" involved too.) I look forward to going back next time with some couples because Chef Joe is truly a Savannah treasure. Whether you are visiting or live in the area, try this .... you'll like it.
